Pankaj is the founder and Principal of Tasman, bringing over 35 years of international finance and accounting experience to the firm. His career spans senior leadership roles across Africa, Australia, and the Middle East, with a proven track record of financial stewardship, operational transformation, and strategic insight.

Pankaj began his career in 1988, building a strong foundation in audit and taxation through key positions at Deloitte, India and Grant Thornton in Dubai. He later served as an Audit and Taxation Manager, deepening his expertise in compliance, reporting, and financial systems design.

For 13 years, Pankaj was based in Mozambique, where he held the role of Chief Financial Officer at Premier SuperSpar. There, he was instrumental in turning around an underperforming sales division, achieving a 35% increase in revenue in just three months, and led the financial consolidation and reporting for multiple group companies.

He then spent 12 years as CFO of Corner Supermarket Group in Sydney, Australia, where he oversaw end-to-end financial operations including budgeting, stock control, vendor and banking relationships, compliance with Australian tax law (IAS, BAS, ATO), and regular board reporting. His hands-on leadership extended to managing accounting teams, implementing internal controls, and driving strategic financial planning.

At Tasman, Pankaj brings together his decades of cross-border experience to offer outsourced accounting solutions grounded in technical precision, commercial awareness, and real-world business acumen. He leads with a practical, client-first approach—helping businesses across South Africa and beyond simplify complexity and strengthen their financial foundations.

Non-Executive Associate | CA (ANZ)

 Karan is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) with deep experience in public practice, tax advisory, and cross-border compliance. As a Non-Executive Associate at Tasman, he brings a strong international perspective and technical depth that supports the firm's commitment to high-quality outsourced accounting solutions.

Karan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) and Master of Commerce (Excellence) from the University of New South Wales, and ranked in the top 5% across four subjects in the Chartered Accountants program — a testament to his technical capability and commitment to professional excellence.

Having worked with Top 50 and second-tier accounting firms in Australia, Karan has advised a broad client base that includes family groups, high-net-worth individuals, listed entities, and multinational businesses. He has led the preparation of complex financial statements and tax returns, particularly for corporate groups in the tech and investment sectors, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax regulations. 

He has also been deeply involved in international tax compliance, including Australian and Singaporean reporting requirements such as the ATO’s International Dealings Schedules and filings with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

Karan has contributed to business restructures and valuations, playing a key role in strategic advisory engagements. 

His direct liaison with revenue authorities has included negotiating settlements and managing compliance issues, including large-scale tax debts. 

He is also experienced in mentoring and training junior staff, and working closely with cross-functional teams — including Tax, Audit, and Wealth Advisory divisions — to deliver integrated and commercially effective outcomes.

Karan’s blend of technical skill, regulatory knowledge, and collaborative mindset make him a valuable contributor to Tasman’s leadership team. His global experience ensures that clients navigating complex financial, tax, and compliance landscapes receive advice that is both precise and commercially practical.
